When to Start Financial Planning
One of the best times to reach out to an advisor is if changing jobs, which is typically accompanied by an opportunity to roll over an employer-sponsored retirement plan such as a 401(k) to an IRA. Oftentimes this is an individual’s first introduction to a financial advisor.
However, it is strongly suggested that you begin working with a financial advisor no later than 5 years prior to retirement because there is a tremendous amount of work that can be done in that lead time to ensure an optimal retirement.
